Hola!,
To friends and strangers, welcome to the blog. This little URL is here to tell the tale of our little band My Lil Tornado's project to make an album.
The plan is to record an album, and release one song a month.
This isn't easy stuff, so of course the plan may change... but this is the plan at the moment.
Some of you who may have seen the same project management seminars that I have may be aware of this old adage:
You can have it quick, cheap, or excellent... Pick two.
Some of you may find this a little pessimistic. But the fucker has rung true all my life, so I'd be a fool to ignore it.
My previous projects have taken lots of time (up to 2 years) because recording, mixing and releasing even an EP take an incredible amount of time. Mainly due to co-ordinating the schedules of people who are not professional musicians, and need to earn a living, but are perfectionists all the same.
So we needed quality, and we need it cheap, because we may not make billions of dollars from this. Therefore following the adage, we needed to sacrifice time.
But there was no way that I was going to spend 2 years of my life trying to finish and release this album. I need some fucken instant gratification this time!
So now that the internet has made the album/ep format irrelevant as a cost effective method of delivering music I decided that we should finish and release one song a month. And then when all the songs are done release the whole thing as a beautiful package.
The reason behind doing it this way is that it allows a bunch of musicians that have day jobs to make a quality recording, and cheap, without waiting 2 years for the pay off. We get a pay off every month.
Yesterday was the first day in the studio. An incredibly productive day.
We laid down drums, bass, and possibly some rhythm guitar for seven tracks.
These are the seven:
Start The Night
Motherfucker
The Ism
Tomorrow's Another Day
Who Knows
Fuck Love Stomp
A Girls Gotta Do What A Girls Gotta Do
I've got to get showered now and get ready for day 2 in the studio.
Pretty freakin exciting.

Hi Guys,
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, releasing the songs in that way :-) I can't wait to hear them! Keep me in the loop.
